UNDERGOING ADHD ASSESSMENT & SON DIAGNOSED ASD

Stacey’s life started out difficult when she lost her Mum to cancer when she was just 14. It wasn’t long before she turned to all sorts of unhealthy coping mechanisms and by 22 she found herself accepting help in a substance misuse residential facility.

On successfully completing her treatment, Stacey knew exactly what career path she wanted to take and began training to become a specialist in Substance Misuse, Counselling and Mental Heath Support.

Stacey first qualified as a Youth Worker, specialising in working with young people estranged from their families, homeless people and street workers, focusing on their safeguarding and mental health.

During this work, Stacey knew that to make the most effective impact on young people –  the support needed to be in place for their families – first to reduce risk, minimise harm, reduce or stop substance misuse in the home, increase family communication and improve their quality of life.

Stacey went on to specialise in working with adults and families, providing Advice, Counselling, Mediation, Family Therapy and other holistic practical support including Housing, Sexual Health, monitoring Substitute Prescribing, referrals to Residential Treatment, accessing Funding for Services and other Interventions appropriate to the client’s needs.

Stacey has successfully created and managed services for individuals with complex needs and has provided effective supervision to staff in Substance Misuse, Counselling, Mental Health and Care settings.

Stacey’s family life has been impacted by Cancer with the loss of both her parents and her brother. This has given Stacey the passion to work with end of life clients and she has worked closely with palliative care services in the community to support people in their final weeks.

Stacey has extensive personal and professional experience of Learning Disabilities. Her son is diagnosed with Autism and other complex medical needs including Neurological Blindness and Atopy. Stacey has successfully fought the system to ensure her sons needs are now met. This has included a successful application for an EHCP, amendments to relevant sections in the EHCP and an application for specialist provision.

Stacey is diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, which is accepted as closely linked to ADHD and is currently on the pathway to exploring her ADHD diagnosis further.

Stacey is 18 years free from all Illicit substances and uses her extensive personal experience to support clients achieve their own personal goals around recovery and meeting their personal life goals. She understands better than most how life can feel hopeless and that change is impossible. But she knows with the right understanding and support, nothing is impossible and she likes nothing more than helping her clients achieve their dreams.

Stacey is also a passionate supporter for parents dealing with challenging and sometimes frightening behaviour with their children. Stacey has immediate family experience of ADHD both Inattentive and Combined, ASD, blindness, eating disorders including anorexia, teenage anxiety and depression.
