Mum Mentors

Sometimes you just want somebody who understands what you and/or your family are going through to have a chat with don’t you?

You don’t necessarily need therapy but DO need a jolly good moan over a cup of tea and a very large slice of cake with somebody who GETS IT! For this purpose we provide ADHD Mentors.

These are people who are not necessarily qualified in therapy (although some are trained and some are in training) but are most certainly qualified to talk about ADHD. They will either be mums of ADHD kids or partners of ADHD husbands/wives and some of them might be ADHD themselves.

We carefully match you up with the most appropriate Mentor for what you’re going through. So for example, if you have a child who is struggling with addiction or getting into trouble with the law, we can match you up with somebody hopefully in your area, but if not contactable by video or telephone, who will have been through this situation before and usually have some wise words that will really help you get through the situation.

If you have young children and are struggling with schools, accessing SEN help, understanding just what an EHCP is and how to get one, or dealing with schools who refuse to make reasonable adjustments for your ADHD children – we have Mums who have all gone through the same thing and come out the other side with a wealth of knowledge.

They won’t judge. They won’t boss you around and tell you what to do. But they will listen and share any of their previously gained knowledge and experience that might help you.

How often you meet up is a decision you and your Mentor will make. You might need more support when you’re up to your neck in difficulties and then lessen off to a once-a-fortnight 2hr meet-up in a coffee shop for a catch up and to put your world to rights, when things have calmed down.

We provide this service because we know how many Mums in particular need it. But if you have relationship issues with an ADHD partner, we can certainly match you up with Mentors to help you too.
